When Jordan and Julia asked me to officiate their wedding, I was truly honored. Their wedding, held in Mystic, Connecticut, right on the water, was everything you’d hope a summer celebration would be: relaxed, joyful, and full of love.
The location wasn’t just beautiful—it was personal, too. Jordan and Julia met years prior, while working along the Connecticut shoreline during a summer job, so getting married near the water felt like coming full circle. There was something very meaningful about being in the same kind of place where their story first began.
From the moment guests started arriving, you could feel the buzz. The atmosphere was light and happy, like a reunion, a party, and a wedding all rolled into one. Over 300 people attended, which speaks volumes about the kind of people Jordan and Julia are. They’ve built strong relationships with friends and family from every part of their lives, and all of those people showed up to celebrate them.
The perfect weather, with warm sun and a gentle breeze, complemented the relaxed and joyful atmosphere of the event. People were chatting, laughing, and enjoying cocktails even before the ceremony began. It had that effortless summer feel—relaxed but still full of meaning.

One moment that really stood out was the signing of their interfaith ketubah. You could tell they put thought into every element. It showed their respect for each other’s backgrounds and their intention to build a shared life. It wasn’t just a symbolic act—it was a moment that set the tone for the rest of the celebration. Watching them stand side by side, surrounded by the people they trust most, making those promises to each other—it hit hard…in a good way.
Behind us, we could hear the waves rolling in. It wasn’t just a nice background sound—it was significant. Jordan and Julia told me they felt the presence of loved ones they’d lost in the crashing of those waves. It was one of those moments that didn’t need to be explained; the sounds of the water said enough, bringing a sense of peace and connection, as if the people they missed most were somehow still there, part of it all.
As the day unfolded with love and connection, I felt honored to stand with Jordan and Julia, helping them mark the beginning of this next chapter. It was a day full of love, connection, and authenticity. Jordan and Julia didn’t just throw a wedding—they brought everyone into their story. And being invited to play a role in that story is something I’ll always be grateful for.
